Immersed in History.

Built in 1878 by Mr Thomas Williams, this elegant property was originally named 'Llandovery' as an ode to honour Mr Williams’ birthplace in Wales.

Over the years, the now Colhurst House has had many uses and proud owners, including the Davie family, who in 1981 completed extensive restoration to this historically rich and iconic property.

The historic mansion was transformed into a luxurious B&B offering by the Matthews Group in 1990, until the recent acquisition by the Kosch family.

From 1990 the property served as a beautiful and historic place to stay in Mount Gambier, just metres from the city centre. And among the lush manicured gardens had also become, and still is, a truly picturesque setting for a spectacular garden wedding.

To this day, Colhust House retains many of its historical features; Original fireplaces, high ceilings with ornate ceiling roses and deep cornices, an original staircase, original windows and original floorboards.

Each spectacular space also remains adorned with furniture and decor that echoes its rich history.

2022 sets the scene for a new era of this remarkably iconic property. We cannot wait to welcome you to experience the luxurious, historically stepped icon, that is, Colhurst House.

“Colhurst House was fabulous, beautiful old world only a short walk to the town centre.”
